On June 15, 2023, at approximately 8:50 a.m., Meridian officers responded to a suspected fentanyl overdose in the 5000 block of W. Lesina St., Meridian. Approximately six hours later officers responded to the 1000 block of E. Ringneck for a second suspected fentanyl overdose. In both cases the subjects survived with the help of Narcan.
In follow-up to the W. Lesina St. overdose, Meridian Police executed a search warrant at the W. Lesina address. This warrant led to the recovery of approximately one pound of suspected methamphetamine, 17 grams of suspected fentanyl, 14 grams of suspected cocaine and ½ pound of marijuana.
It also led to the arrest of 28-year-old Cameron HALE of Mountain Home for felony Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver; 29-year-old Zachary LANGAN of Meridian for felony Controlled Substance – Delivery; 22-year-old Kaitlyn FONCE of Meridian for felony Possession of Controlled Substance and misdemeanor Controlled Substance - frequenting place where used, manufactured cultivated.
Meridian Police Chief Basterrechea stated, “This is just another example of why our legislature needs to take the needed action against those willing to traffic fentanyl and other harmful drugs to our state.”
