The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from June 3^rd  to June 9^th.
 
June 3^rd

Grand Theft- 500 Block of Balra Dr
At 6:30 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s catalytic converter. The theft occurred between 06/02/23 9:00 PM and 06/03/23 12:00PM.

Tampering with a Vehicle- 6500 Gladys Ave
At 7:54 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered a window on the victim’s vehicle to gain entry. The ignition of the vehicle was damaged and no property was missing.

June 4^th

Identity Theft – 600 block of Clayton Ave
At 4:40 PM, an officer reports on 4/29/2023, the victim was scammed out of approximately $25,000 on an investment website.

June 5^TH

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 500 block of Clayton Ave
At 4:35 PM an officer recovered the victim's unoccupied stolen vehicle that which reported to ECPD last week.

June 6^TH

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 5200 block of School St
At 9:02 AM an officer located the victim’s unoccupied stolen vehicle which was reported to Oakland PD on June 5^th.

Attempted Stolen Vehicle – San Pablo Ave at Wall Ave
At 10:22 AM the victim reported that an unknown suspect shattered the driver’s side window to the victim’s vehicle and damaged the ignition in an attempt to steal the car.  
 
Identity Theft – 5800 block of Avila St
On 05/31/23 the suspect withdrew $600.00 and deposited a $1700.00 check into the victim’s bank account. The suspect fraudulently added a vehicle to the victim's auto insurance.

Stolen Vehicle Report – 5600 Block of San Diego St
At 4:19 AM, officers were dispatched to contact the owner of a vehicle that was involved in a collision in Richmond.  The owner’s vehicle was stolen sometime overnight.

June 7^TH

Petty Theft – 1300 block of Lawrence St
On 06/01/23, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s unattended purse that she left on her front porch.

Auto Burglary – Pomona Ave at Moeser Lane
At 1:48 PM the victim reported the rear window of their vehicle was shattered and their purse was stolen.

Vandalism – 6400 Block of Hagen Blvd
Between 2:01 AM-2:11 AM, an unknown suspect spray-painted three of the victim’s vehicles. The victim was able to remove the spray paint before it caused damage.

Commercial Burglary – 10770 San Pablo Ave (Stiiizy)
At 5:05 AM, officers were dispatched to a commercial burglary in progress at the new dispensary. Three vehicles fled the scene prior to police arrival.

June 8^TH

Petty Theft – 11100 block of San Pablo Ave
At 1:57 PM, the victim reports that their rear license plate was stolen from their vehicle. 

Shoplifting and Battery – 11687 San Pablo Ave (Valero)
At 1:04 PM the suspect attempted to steal two cases of beer.  As the suspect attempted to exit the store the store clerk grabbed the cases of beer from him.  The suspect grabbed a water bottle off the shelf and pushed a customer out of his way as he exited the store.

Theft of License Plates – 1300 Block of Liberty St.
At 7:23 PM, the victim reports an unknown suspect stole the rear license plate from their vehicle between 06/07/23 – 06/08/23.

June 9^th

Residential Burglary/Stolen Vehicle-1500 Block of Kearney St:
At 4:51 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unsecured window. The suspect located the keys to the victim’s vehicle and stole the vehicle.
