ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: Deleon was arraigned in front of Judge Lisa W. Lorman in Amsterdam City Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: Pursuant to an active and ongoing investigation into the sale of illegal narcotics occurring within the City of Amsterdam, The Amsterdam Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Regional SWAT team executed a search warrant on Monday June 19th at 34 Kline Street. During the search of the residence detectives located and seized a quantity of cocaine, paraphernalia associated with the trafficking of narcotics, and a shotgun. At the 34 Kline Street residence Amsterdam Police located and arrested 43 year-old Willie Deleon of Amsterdam. Deleon was the subject of an arrest warrant after selling a controlled substance to a police source during an active drug investigation. Deleon was transported to Amsterdam Police headquarters where he was processed on the above charges. The Amsterdam Police Department was assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Montgomery County District Attorney Lorraine Diamond.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
