BergenSafe” by LiveSafe Vector Solutions is a free personal safety mobile application that provides individuals with a quick, convenient, and discreet way to communicate directly with law enforcement. The application features a panic alarm and text messaging for a direct and immediate line of communications with the Bergen County Public Safety Operations Center (PSOC) as well as a traditional 911 feature. Additionally, suspicious activity may be reported through the application to PSOC. Moreover, the application features pertinent resources such as mental health and addiction information, as well as a “SafeWalk” feature which allows users to share their location with selected users for real-time monitoring.
This application is free for all Bergen County residents and those who work in Bergen County. The application has been endorsed by the Bergen County Association of School Administrators; teachers and staff are encouraged to download and use the application. Although there are similar applications that are currently being used by schools and other organizations, such as Share911, BergenSafe is free and is directly linked to County resources.
