Couple Arrested for Sex Crimes Against a Minor

DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19, 2023, at approximately 12:36 a.m.

INCIDENT: P. C. 288(A) - Lewd Acts with a Minor Under 14
P.C. 289 - Sexual Penetration with a Foreign Object 

LOCATION: 1500 Block of Vine Street, Needles, CA

SUSPECT(S): Joshua Hernandez, 33-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
Layla Hernandez, 29-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA

VICTIM(S): Confidential Female Juvenile


SUMMARY: On Monday, June 19, 2023, at approximately 12:36 a.m., deptuies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department responded to a call for service reference an attempted rape. During the investigation, deputies learned a juvenile victim had been sexually assaulted at her home.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Joshua Hernandez was found to be in violation of  P.C. 288(A)- Lewd Acts with a Minor Under 14 and P.C. 289- Sexual Penetration with a Foreign Object.  He was consequently arrested and  transported to Colorado River Station jail for booking and remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $80,000.00, awaiting a court hearing. Layla Hernandez was found to be in violation of P.C. 288(A) - Lewd Acts with a Minor Under 14. She was consequently arrested and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking and remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $80,000.00, awaiting a court hearing.
