Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics
Today, Berkeley Police Department is participating in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics in Northern California. A small but dedicated group of law enforcement officers, along with the support of Special Olympics staff, brought the Torch Run to life in Northern California in 1997. From its humble beginnings the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Northern California has grown into an integral part of Special Olympics; each year hundreds of law enforcement personnel participate.
On June 21st at 1 pm, the Berkeley Police Department and the University of California Police Department will carry the “Flame of Hope” through the City of Berkeley.
Officers will carry the “Flame of Hope” on the following route until they pass the “Flame of Hope” to the City of Emeryville Police Department.
