INCIDENT: Homicide Investigation
LOCATION: 10600 block of Villa Street, Adelanto
SUSPECT(S): Steven Soliz, 57-year-old resident of Adelanto
VICTIM(S): Curtis Ward, 44-year-old resident of Riverside
SUMMARY: On Sunday, May 14, 2023, deputies with the Victor Valley/Adelanto Station responded to a shooting in the 10600 block of Villa Street, Adelanto. Upon arrival, deputies located Curtis Ward suffering from a gunshot wound. Ward was transported to a Los Angeles County trauma center for treatment. Through investigation, Steven Soliz was identified as the suspect. An arrest warrant for PC 664/187 – Attempted Murder was authored for Soliz and he was arrested on June 15, 2023.
Curtis Ward was pronounced deceased at the hospital on June 21, 2023. It is believed Ward’s death was caused by the gunshot injury. An autopsy will be conducted by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail have assumed the investigation.
