SWAT Arrest
On 6/21/23 at 5:30PM, the Janesville Police Department investigated an armed subject in the 100 Block of N. Washington Ave. The suspect, William Stephens, created a disturbance at a nearby residence. During the disturbance, he displayed a handgun. When officers arrived, Stephens retreated into his residence and refused to exit.
The Janesville SWAT Team was activated. Negotiators talked to Stephens on the phone for two hours. Stephens eventually exited his apartment and was taken into custody.
William Stephens is being held at the Rock County Jail.
William Stephens is on probation with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
