GPFDPS has received numerous calls on a telephone scam occurring in the GPF area today. Please see the full message for details. 
Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety is informing residents of the following information. Several residents called today saying they received a call from the GPF Public Safety Department. The caller is claiming to be an officer from the Farms and that the resident has missed a court appearance, jury duty, etc.
The caller then requests payment to clear up the matter. In addition, the scammer is "spoofing" our department telephone number of (313)-885-2100. Spoofing is a criminal technique of cloning or copying our number so that the receiver believes it is a legitimate call via caller ID. If anyone has received these calls, please let our department know.
Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety will never request payment over the phone or via email for any service.
