UPDATE: Missing Person

*** On 6/26/23 at approximately 8:10PM a body resembling the missing person was located in Mona Lake near the Henry St. bridge by Michigan State Police divers. The Norton Shores Dive Team, Muskegon County Sheriff Dive Team, Mason County Sheriff Dive Team, and Michigan State Police Dive Team worked tirelessly in adverse conditions in order to bring closer to the family.

The Norton Shores Police Department is investigating a missing person who may have jumped off the Henry St. Bridge over Mona Lake late Saturday evening 6/24/23 or early Sunday morning 6/25/23.  Roosevelt Park Police Department received a report of a 27-year-old male who had been sending concerning text messages to family and friends indicating that he was going to jump off a bridge.   

Norton Shores Police Officers located the subject’s vehicle parked near the Henry St. Bridge early Sunday morning. Officers searched the area on land and surface water but were not able to locate him.  The Norton Shores Dive Team along with the Muskegon County Dive Team searched the area around the Henry St. bridge all day Sunday.    

The Norton Shores Dive Team, Muskegon County Dive Team, Oceana County Dive Team, and the Michigan State Police Dive Team will continue to search the bridge area today 6/26/23. Marine patrol units will also be searching the lake.
