Southbound Madison Street Under I-55 Remains Closed until July 28th 
IDOT (Illinois Department of Transportation) informed the Village that their project to rehabilitate the I-55 bridge is behind schedule and the southbound lane of Madison Street must remain closed through July.
The final stage of IDOT’s project should begin this week when all work moves to the east side of the bridge. The northbound travel lane will then shift over to the west side under the bridge.
Reminder: northbound Madison Street will always remain open. A detour for southbound Madison Street is still in place along IL Route 83 (Kingery) and Central Ave./S. Frontage Road. Local traffic should seek alternate routes during construction.
