* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Passaic County in northeastern New Jersey... Northwestern Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey... Northwestern Essex County in northeastern New Jersey... South central Orange County in southeastern New York... Rockland County in southeastern New York...

* Until 500 PM EDT.

* At 412 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near West Milford to near Boonton, moving northeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include... Wayne, West Milford, Ramsey, Ringwood, Pompton Lakes, Suffern, Warwick, Sloatsburg, Bloomingdale, Fairfield, Chester, Greenwood Lake, Upper Greenwood Lake, Wyckoff and Oakland.

* AFFECTED AREAS: BERGEN, NJ ... ESSEX, NJ ... PASSAIC, NJ ... ORANGE, NY ... ROCKLAND, NY

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
