On 06/25/23 at approximately 8:30pm, a Janesville Police Officer was investigating the welfare of children in a residence in the 2000 blk of Hermitage Ln. The officer was checking the residence due to the deplorable living conditions and located Brandon Li Diaz, 24 years old hiding in a locked bathroom. Diaz was in violation of an active domestic violence restraining order by being at the residence. Diaz had previously been arrested by the Janesville Police Department for 4 other domestic related incidents in October of 2022, January of 2023, and two incidents in February of 2023 all with felonies. Diaz is currently out on 2 signature bonds and 2, $500 cash bonds through the Rock County Circuit Court.
The officer attempted to arrest Diaz and a violent struggle ensued between the two. Diaz ultimately assaulted the officer and fled the scene. The officer was able to locate Diaz and take him into custody. The officer was transported to a local hospital with injuries and was later released.
