IMPD officers arrest 39-year-old Chaznee Mockabee on Sunday for her alleged role in the 2021 murder of 34-year-old D’Lon Edwards.
On December 20, 2021, IMPD Northwest District officers responded to the 3900 block of Lawdale Avenue on a report of a person shot. Officers located Edwards and confirmed he had been shot. Edwards was transported to Eskenazi Hospital where he later died. Officers learned a vehicle that may have been involved in the incident was located at 3900 Diamond Lane. Officers attempted to make contact with someone inside the home who was later identified as Mockabee.
IMPD Aggravated Assault and Homicide detectives responded to investigate. Detectives determined the incident occurred at 3900 Diamond Lane. Officers eventually detained Mockabee and she was later released pending further investigation.
Homicide detectives continued their investigation and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) charged Mockabee with murder earlier this month.
On Sunday, June 25, 2023, IMPD Northwest District middle shift officers, using license plate reader technology, located and arrested Mockabee on her warrant.
A charge is merely an accusation and Mockabee should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The MCPO will make the final charging decision.
