Presently East Chicago Air Quality is above 200 which is rising to the very unhealthy category.
What to do when the air quality is bad and how to protect yourself
- Limit outdoor exposure
- Avoid strenuous outdoor activities
- Protect the air in your home
- Keep an eye on symptoms
- Eye irritation
- Wheezing or difficulty breathing
- Irritation and inflammation of the respiratory tract (coughing)
- Shortness of breath, especially during physical activity
- Aggravation of existing asthma, heart and lung conditions
