Precautionary boil water notice issued for Deer Song subdivision and surrounding area

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla.– The City of Winter Springs is notifying residents Deer Song subdivision and surrounding area of a precautionary boil water notice due to a water main break.

On June 28, 2023, Winter Springs Public Works and Utilities crews were conducting planned maintenance of a fire hydrant at Sherry Avenue and George Street when a water main valve failed.

Winter Springs Utilities crews were able to stop the leak and have begun to make the necessary repairs to
restore service to affected residents.
Due to the break and subsequent interruption of service, a boil water notice has been issued for 120 homes.
Addresses affected by this notice are:
1. Boil water intended for consumption: It is recommended to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or any other activity that involves consuming water.
2. Use boiled or bottled water: Please use boiled water or commercially bottled water for all food preparation, including washing fruits and vegetables and making beverages such as coffee and tea.

The notice will be lifted once laboratory testing shows negative results for any biological contamination within a 48-hour period.
