INCIDENT: DUI Traffic Collision/ Hit and Run with Injuries
LOCATION: Santa Fe Trail/ Fox Trail, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): Alvaro Rodriguez, 26-year-old Male Resident of Yucca Valley
Edilberto Solano Morales, 32-year-old Male Resident of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): 63-year-old Female, 27-year-old Male, 4-year-old Male, and 2-year-old Female, Residents of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY: On Monday, June 26, 2023, at approximately 2:36 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies received a call for service regarding a reckless driver in the area of Santa Fe Trail and Fox Trail in Yucca Valley. The description of the suspect vehicle was a red Cadillac CTS sedan.
As deputies arrived on scene, they quickly determined a traffic collision occurred. There was a large plume of dust and the Cadillac was unoccupied. The reckless driver, Alvaro Rodriguez, and his passenger, Edilberto Solano Morales, fled on foot after colliding with another vehicle. The traffic collision caused a white Ford Explorer to overturn. A family of four, including two small children, were injured and transported to Desert Regional Medical Center.
Deputies investigated the incident and ultimately located Alvaro and Edilberto at their nearby residence. Alvaro and Edilberto were arrested with additional charges of hit and run with injuries, DUI traffic collision with injuries, and driving with a blood alcohol content over 0.15%.
Both suspects were booked at the West Valley Detention Center. Alvaro's bail amount was set at $250,000. Edilberto's bail amount was set at $30,000.
