The Emeryville Police Department is experiencing a surge in robberies of citizens at ATMS.
 
Within the past month, the Emeryville Police Department has received an increase in calls for service where citizens reported being robbed while returning to their vehicles after using an ATM. These ATM robberies are occurring at the Bank of America, located at 4120 San Pablo Ave. In these incidents, the suspects have been armed with handguns and rob their victims of money and their personal belongings. The suspects in these cases were seen leaving the area by vehicles.
 
The Emeryville Police Department is actively investigating these robberies and are collaborating with our Law Enforcement partners. If you have been a victim of a robbery or have any information regarding any of these incidents, the Emeryville Police Department is requesting your assistance and asking that you please call the Criminal Investigations Unit at 510-596-3700.
 
In an effort to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of a robbery, the Emeryville Police Department suggests the following:

• Be aware of your surroundings.
• Remain alert and be observant of people around you.
• Prior to using an ATM, scan the area for suspicious behavior.
• Once you complete your ATM transaction, immediately put your money away.
• Do not look at your cell phone when walking to and from your car.
• Once you return to your vehicle, proceed to your next destination. Don’t linger in the parking lot.
