El Cerrito Police Blotter from June 17th to June 23rd

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from June 17th to June 23rd.
 
June 17th

No felonies or major events.

June 18th

Vandalism / Assault – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreen’s):
At 9:59 AM, an officer reports a 23 year old man and his 33 year old female partner were thwarted from shoplifting by Walgreen’s security.  The man grabbed at the security guard, but the guard deflected and got them to leave the store.  The man then picked up a rock and threw it at the security guard, narrowly missing him.  The woman became upset at the treatment she felt her partner was receiving, so she picked up the rock and threw it at the front window of Walgreen’s, causing it to shatter.

The pair fled on foot and a passerby saw them running from the Jack in the Box parking lot and hiding in the bushes along the freeway onramp. They were later located and detained.  After a positive ID, both were transported to county jail.

June 19th

Grand Theft – 1700 block of Ganges Ave.
The victim’s catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle sometime between 6 PM on 6/18/2023 and 9:45 AM on 6/19/2023.

Auto Burglary – 7900 block of Cutting Blvd (Berkeley Country Club).
At 2:37 PM an unidentified suspect shattered the right front window of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect stole the victim’s wallet containing their credit cards. The credit card was fraudulently used in Berkeley.

Forgery – 11090 San Pablo Ave (Nation’s HQ)
At 3:46 PM an unidentified suspect intercepted a company check that was mailed to a vendor and cashed it.

Petty Theft – 5300 block of Cypress Ave.
At 4:39 PM the victim reported her license plates were stolen and replaced them with different ones.

Stolen vehicle / Stolen Property / Narcotics / Drug Paraphernalia  - San Pablo Ave / Central Ave.
At 9:13 PM, officers located a stolen vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered stolen property, drugs, and drug paraphernalia from inside the vehicle. The driver was later transported to county jail.

June 20th

Recovered Stolen vehicle – San Carlos Ave / Colusa Ave.
At 9:54 PM, officers located an unoccupied stolen vehicle, and it was returned to its owner.

June 21st

Stolen Vehicle/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Peerless Ave. at San Pablo Ave.
At 6:55 AM an officers located a stolen vehicle traveling northbound on San Pablo Ave from Peerless Ave. Officers stopped the vehicle, and the driver was arrested. A meth pipe was found in the vehicle. The suspect was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle – 3200 block of Belmont Ave.
At 10:16 AM the victim reported their truck was stolen sometime last night.

Warrant Arrest – 10200 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 1:45 PM, officers responded to a report of two roommates arguing. One of the subjects was found to have a warrant for their arrest out of Sacramento County. The subject was arrested, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Battery – 11319 San Pablo Ave. (Chevron)
At 5:01 PM, the suspect punched the victim in the face and hit the victim with the handle of a squeegee several times. The suspect was arrested, booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

June 22nd

Grand Theft – 1300 block of Scott St.
At 7:38 PM the victim reported their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle sometime last night.

Stolen Vehicle – 10400 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 11:33 AM the victim reported their vehicle was stolen sometime last night.

June 23rd  

Grand Theft – 10794 San Pablo Ave (Marshall’s):
At 2:26 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect stole $994 worth of merchandise and fled through an emergency exit door toward the vacant CVS building.

Shoplifting/Warrant Arrest- 225 El Cerrito Plaza (Trader Joe’s):
At 8:34 PM, officers responded to the business for a theft detail. Officers located the suspect several blocks from the business and detained her. The suspect was positively identified by employees and placed under citizen’s arrest. During a records check, officers discovered the suspect had an outstanding warrant out of Alameda County. The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility after booking.
