On Sunday, July 2nd at approximately 9 pm, the Independence Day Fireworks display will take place over Mountain Lake. Island Beach will be open for viewing. In case of severe weather, updates regarding the event will be posted on the Borough website (www.mtnlakes.org).  No parking signs will be placed on roads surrounding the lake.  Please do not park in these areas which are needed to accomodate emergency traffic.

Important Information Regarding Island Beach Parking Lot for July 2nd: 

The parking lot at Island Beach will be cleared at 5:30 pm on July 2nd. The area will re-open for fireworks viewing once the MLPD have secured the area.

Water Safety Reminders From the Fire and Police Departments

Please familiarize yourself with the State of New Jersey regulations for water safety which include:

N.J.S.A. 12:7-47.1: Children 12 years of age and under are required to wear a US Coast Guard approved personal flotation device at all times.

N.J.S.A. 12:7-77: All vessels must have serviceable United States Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices for each person on board.

N.J.A.C. 13:82-1.3: All vessels are required to display navigation lights between sunset and sunrise and during times of restricted visibility, or have ready at hand an electric torch or lighted lantern showing a white light which shall be exhibited in sufficient time to prevent collision.

N.J.A.C. 13:82-1.3: All vessels must have a sound signaling device such as a whistle or bell or other means of making an efficient sound signal.
