On July 2, 2023, at approximately 1111 hours, the Kern County Sheriff's Office received a call for a 27-year-old male that had gone missing in the Kern River, near Keysville South, in Lake Isabella. Kern Valley Deputies and Kern Valley Search and Rescue responded to the area. Swift Water Rescue Teams were deployed in the river and searched for the male. The male was located deceased in the river near Sandy Flat Campground. Search and Rescue recovered the male from the river. The Kern County Coroner's Office responded and took over the investigation.
