Chantry Fire Update
Overnight, U.S. Forest Service Night AirAttack mapped the Chantry Fire (located in the mountains above Sierra Madre and Arcadia) to 5.8 acres. The Forest Service night-flying helicopter dropped water on hot spots within the fire’s perimeter. Containment remains at 50% as crews continue to construct fireline. (Constructing a fireline removes potentially flammable vegetation from the edge of the fire's perimeter.)
Duarte residents may hear the sound of helicopters or planes day or night.
Smoke Alert: A limited amount of smoke may be seen in/around this area of the mountains or smelled in Duarte.
