INCIDENT: Vehicle Burglary & Possession of Burglary Tools
LOCATION: California Street & Avenue A, Yucaipa.
SUSPECT: Marc Anthony Sanchez, 39-year-old from Rialto
VICTIM: Residents of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Monday, July 3, 2023, at about 12:19 a.m., a resident in the 12100 block of California Street witnessed a Hispanic male adult breaking into their Toyota Prius. The male ran when he was confronted. The resident provided deputies with the male’s description and last known direction of travel.
Deputies with the Yucaipa Police Department responded and found Marc Anthony Sanchez near a convenience store on Bryant Street, north of Yucaipa Boulevard. Sanchez matched the suspect's description and had a backpack with him. The backpack contained stolen property from the Toyota Prius as well as from another vehicle in the 11900 block of Crestview Court in Yucaipa. Both vehicles were broken into by shattering a door’s window. Sanchez had a mechanical punch on him when he was arrested. The stolen property was returned to the owners and Sanchez was booked into the Central Detention Center for vehicle burglary.
Deputies believe Sanchez may be responsible for additional unreported vehicle burglaries in upper Yucaipa on Sunday night, July 2nd, into Monday morning, July 3rd.
