INCIDENT: PC 69 - Resisting Arrest, CVC 14601.1(A) - Driving on a Suspended License, and CVC 23152(G) - Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol / Drugs
LOCATION: 400 Block of Goodman Street, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Zena Kormes, 28-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department noticed a gray Nissan Altima failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign located on 3rd Street and J Street, and was traveling at a high rate of speed through the intersection. When deputies located the vehicle near the 400 block of Goodman Street, they contacted the driver, Zena Kormes. During the contact, Kormes attempted to assault deputies and was taken into custody without further incident.
During the investigation, Kormes was found to be in violation PC 69 - Resisting Arrest, PC 14601.1(A) - Driving on a Suspended License and CVC 23152(G) - Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol / Drugs.
Kormes was consequently arrested and transported to the High Desert Detention Center for booking. Kormes remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $30,000.00, awaiting a court hearing.
