INCIDENT: PC 21310 – Possession of Illegal Weapon
LOCATION: US Highway 18 and Navajo Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Hughie Joe Sheppard, 34-year-old male resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, Deputy Tyler Loup, of Apple Valley Police Department’s Multiple Enforcement Team (MET), was conducting proactive patrol near the intersection of US Highway 18 and Navajo Road, in the town of Apple Valley. Deputy Loup observed a subject wearing a face mask and stopped to speak with him.
During this consensual contact, the subject was found to be in possession of an illegal weapon. The suspect, Hughie Joe Sheppard, was also found to have outstanding arrest warrants for previous criminal cases.
Hughie Sheppard was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
