INCIDENT: PC 664/187 Attempted Murder

SUSPECT(S): Joshua Kaiser, 32-year-old, male, resident of Johnson Valley
VICTIM(S): Confidential, 30-year-old, female, resident of Yucca Valley
Confidential, 29-year-old, male, resident of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY: On Monday, June 19, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to the Hi Desert Medical Center, regarding two burn victims. Deputies spoke with the female victim, who suffered severe burns. The female victim said a man had lit her and the male victim on fire. The male victim suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for more advanced treatment. Both victims have since been released from the hospital and continue to recover.
Detectives from the Morongo Basin Station and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Arson/Bomb Detail responded to the 52000 block of Cholla Road, in Johnson Valley, where the alleged crime took place. Detectives served a search warrant at the location and located additional evidence. During the investigation, detectives identified Joshua Kaiser as the suspect and sought a warrant for his arrest. On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, deputies contacted Kaiser on Old Woman Springs Road, near Mira Street, during a vehicle check.
Kaiser was taken into custody and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, for PC 664/187 Attempted Murder, with bail set at $1,000,000.00.
