Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Weeks of June 12-July 2, 2023

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.  
 
  
Robberies
 
There were six robberies during the past three weeks.
 
On Thursday, 06-15-23, at approximately 2:14 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Mama Tran's Kitchen on the 5900 block of Mission Street on a report of a strong-arm robbery. Two suspects entered the restaurant; the first suspect tackled the victim to the ground while the second suspect punched the victim. The victim stated the suspects took his iPhone valued at $155. The first suspect was described as a Black male wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants. The second suspect was described as a Black male wearing a gray sweatshirt and gray pants. Both suspects fled in a red sedan.
 
On Friday, 06-16-23, at approximately 11:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to Park Plaza Drive and Bel Mar Avenue on a report of a possible robbery. The victim stated that she met with the known suspect, who shoved her and took her cell phone. The victim fell backward onto the sidewalk and felt pain in her tailbone. The known suspect demanded $2 in exchange for the cell phone. The victim gave the known suspect $2, and the known suspect returned the cell phone. The known suspect then left. A short time later, the known suspect was located, and the 26-year-old San Francisco resident was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and other charges.
 
On Tuesday, 06-20-23, at approximately 12:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to Sun Valley Dairy, located on the 600 block of Schwerin Street, on a report of a robbery. Two suspects entered the store, and one of the suspects stated to the employee, "Don't move; I'll smoke you." This suspect grabbed a watch out of the employee's hand. Both suspects ran out of the store. The employee grabbed a gun and shot the suspect. The suspect, a 19-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery and criminal conspiracy. The employee, a 50-year-old Daly City resident, was arrested and booked into jail for attempted murder and possession of a firearm. This investigation is continuing.
 
On Thursday, 06-22-23, at approximately 5:35 p.m., officers were dispatched to Nordstrom Rack on a report of a robbery. Two suspects entered the store, concealed numerous pairs of shoes valued at approximately $1,645 into a stroller, and exited the store without paying. An asset protection agent was pushed after she attempted to stop the suspect from leaving. The suspect went to speak with other asset protection agents on the scene, who told the suspect to return the merchandise. The suspect threw all the merchandise on the ground and left the scene. This investigation is continuing. 
 
On Friday, 06-23-23, at approximately 7:52 p.m., officers were dispatched to Nordstrom Rack on a report of a brandishing call. A suspect entered the store, placed approximately $950 worth of shoes in a white bag, and left via the emergency exit without paying for the merchandise. Loss prevention agents, who identified themselves, contacted the suspect and asked the suspect to return the merchandise. The suspect physically resisted by pushing and shoving the loss prevention agents. The loss prevention agents witnessed the suspect holding a silver butterfly knife and became fearful. One of the loss prevention agents told the suspect to leave, and the suspect walked across the parking lot toward Target. Officers found the suspect inside Target. The suspect, a 52-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.
 
On Sunday, 07-02-23, at approximately 9:48 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Jamba Juice at the Westlake Shopping Center on a report of a robbery. The suspect approached the cash register with a knife and demanded the employee to place the cash inside a paper gift bag. The employee feared for her safety and put $167 from the register into the bag. The suspect exited the store and walked southbound. The suspect was described as a Black male in his 50s, wearing a white buttoned-up long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes. This investigation is continuing. 
 
 
Residential Burglaries
 
There were three residential burglaries during the past three weeks.
 
On Tuesday, 06-13-23, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a residence on the 600 block of Hickey Boulevard was a victim of burglary by an unknown suspect. The victim was inside his garage when an unknown suspect identified himself as a water inspector and asked to check the water inside the house. The victim took the suspect to the bathroom inside his room. The suspect asked the victim to get a spoon from the kitchen. The victim left the suspect inside the room, went to the kitchen, and retrieved a spoon. The suspect asked the victim to tap the faucet with the spoon to see if dirt came out. The victim then took the suspect to the kitchen to check the faucet. The suspect quickly checked the kitchen faucet and left the residence in a white pickup truck. On 06-20-23, the victim's wife discovered that approximately $60,000 worth of jewelry was stolen. The victim described the suspect as a medium-complected Pacific Islander or Hispanic, 5'8” to 5'9" tall, with a muscular build, and wearing a gray crew neck sweatshirt.
 
On Thursday, 06-22-23, between 10:30 a.m. and 8:45 p.m., a residence on the unit block of Menlo Avenue was a victim of a residential burglary. Unknown suspect(s) shattered the rear swinging glass door to make entry. Approximately $500 was stolen.
 
On Saturday, 06-24-23, at approximately 1:48 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on the 500 block of King Drive on a report of a residential burglary. A known suspect had entered the residence through a window. The victim confirmed nothing was stolen. The known suspect, a 29-year-old Daly City resident, was arrested and booked into jail for residential burglary and other offenses.
 
 
Commercial Burglaries
 
There were six commercial burglaries during the past three weeks.
On Wednesday, 06-14-23, at approximately 7:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to Little Hunan, located on the 6100 block of Mission Street, on a report of a broken glass door. It appeared that the unknown suspect used a concrete paver to break the glass door to gain entry. The victim stated that there was nothing stolen.
 
On Tuesday, 06-20-23, at approximately 1:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to Daly City Mitsubishi on the 6300 block of Mission Street on a report of an alarm call. Officers entered the business and found a suspect sitting in the backseat of a car in the service department. The suspect made entry through the roof and also damaged a security system. The suspect, a 45-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for commercial burglary, vandalism, and delaying an investigation.
 
Between Thursday, 06-22-23, at approximately 3:45 p.m. and Friday, 06-23-23, at approximately 6:45 a.m., a suspect entered an office not intended for public access, at the Seton Medical Center, located on the 1900 block of Sullivan Avenue and stole an ID badge, two hospital access cards, and a key. The key was later found on a bench. On 06-24-23, the suspect, a 29-year-old transient, was arrested and booked into jail for burglary. The ID badge and hospital access cards were recovered. This is the same suspect mentioned in the Northeast Medical Services burglary and below vehicle burglaries.
 
On Friday, 06-23-23, at approximately 6:10 a.m., Northeast Medical Services, located on the 1800 block of Sullivan Avenue, was the victim of a commercial burglary. A suspect entered the locked door to the closed business and stole several laptops, tablets, a medical device, $20, and other items, all totaling approximately $11,500. Through investigation, the suspect, a 29-year-old transient, was arrested and booked into jail for burglary. This is the same suspect mentioned in the other burglaries at the Seton Medical Center and below vehicle burglaries.
 
On Saturday, 06-24-23, at approximately 8:04 a.m., officers were dispatched to Seton Medical Center, located on the 1900 block of Sullivan Avenue, on a report of a trespasser. An employee found a suspect hiding in the linen room. The employee stated that the suspect had his backpack, wallet, and vehicle keys, which were left in another room. The items were valued at approximately $200. The employee called security, who detained the suspect. The suspect, a 29-year-old transient, was arrested and booked into jail for burglary, possession of burglary tools, and giving false information to an officer. The suspect had stolen items from multiple victims. The stolen items were returned to the victims of multiple burglaries. This is the same suspect mentioned in the burglaries at Northeast Medical Services, Seton Medical Center, and the below vehicle burglaries.
 
On Monday, 06-26-23, between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., a victim had his wallet containing a driver’s license, a credit card, and a debit card stolen from a locker at the Planet Fitness facility located on the 2900 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard. **Online report.
 
 
Vehicle Burglaries   
 
There were twenty-three vehicle burglaries during the past three weeks.
 

  • 700 block of Beechwood Drive—miscellaneous electrical tools were taken from a 2002 Ford F150. The driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred on 06-15-23 at approximately 5:36 a.m.
 
  • 400 block of San Diego Avenue—miscellaneous documents were taken from a 2014 Audi A4. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 06-20-23 around midnight.
 
  • 300 block of San Diego Avenue—sunglasses, scanner, and tools were taken from a 1997 Toyota RAV4. The front passenger side window was smashed. Occurred on 06-20-23 at approximately 12:09 a.m.
 
  • 100 block of San Fernando Way—tools taken from a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 06-21-23 between midnight and 4:15 a.m. **Online report.
 
  • Parking lot on the 1900 block of Sullivan Avenue—computer bag, laptop, hat, battery pack, keys, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Alexa device, speaker, work pager, two binoculars, sunglasses, Bluetooth sunglasses, wallet, CA driver's license, military ID, various medical center IDs, Masonic membership card, physician ID card, credit card, debit cards, and $8,900 were taken from a 2000 Mercedes-Benz. The driver's side door was found open. Occurred on 06-21-23 between midnight and 4:15 a.m. Through investigation, on 06-24-23, the suspect, a 29-year-old transient, was arrested and booked into jail for vehicle burglary. This is the same suspect mentioned who burglarized the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Seton Medical Center, and Northeast Medical Services. Multiple items that were stolen were recovered and returned to the victim. **Online report. 
 
  • 100 block of Pierce Street—jackets were taken from a 2015 Audi Q5. The suspects unlocked the vehicle with an electronic device. Occurred on 06-21-23 at approximately 6:30 a.m.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near Jamba Juice—packages were taken from a 2010 Freightliner. Unknown method of entry. Occurred on 06-21-23 between 10:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. **Online report.
 
  • 900 block of Campus Drive—nothing was taken from a 2010 Freightliner truck. The bulkhead door was jammed. Occurred on 06-21-23 between 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. *Online report.
 
  • Unit block of Hillside Boulevard—glasses and shoes were taken from a 2021 Lexus NX300H. Unknown method of entry. Occurred between the morning hours on 06-21-23 and 12:30 p.m. on 06-21-23. **Online report.
 
  • Parking lot on the 2600 block of Bayshore Boulevard—laptop charger, power inverter, jacket, and keys were taken from a 2010 Ford truck. The suspects damaged a fence, entered the parking lot, and opened the vehicle door, which was unlocked. Occurred between unknown time on 06-22-23 and 9:00 a.m. on 06-23-23.
 
  • Parking lot on the 1900 block of Sullivan Avenue—garage opener was taken from a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Unknown method of entry, victim found the rear passenger side door was open. Occurred on 06-22-23 between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. On 06-24-23, the suspect, a 29-year-old transient, was arrested and booked into jail for vehicle burglary. This is the same suspect mentioned who burglarized the Mercedes-Benz, Seton Medical Center, and Northeast Medical Services.
 
  • 900 block of East Market Street—a jacket was taken from a 2013 Honda Civic. Unknown method of entry. Occurred on 06-24-23 between 12:55 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. **Online report.
 
  • Serramonte Boulevard and Callan Boulevard—documents and $300 were taken from a 2018 Ford Escape. The front passenger window was halfway open. Occurred on 06-25-23 between midnight and 2:00 p.m. This is the same vehicle mentioned below in the Stolen Vehicles section.
 
  • Parking garage at the Westlake Shopping Center—nothing was taken from a 2016 Kia Forte. The left rear passenger window smashed. Occurred on 06-26-23 between 10:50 a.m. and 4:20 p.m.
 
  • Parking lot of Westlake Shopping Center near Home Depot—power tools were taken from a 2008 Chevrolet 2500. The toolbox was pried open. Occurred on 06-26-23 between 2:30 p.m. and 2:35 p.m.
 
  • 200 block of Oriente Street—owner’s manual, vehicle registration, and insurance were taken from a 2006 GMC Yukon. Possible slip to driver’s side door to gain access to the vehicle. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on 06-26-23 and 9:40 a.m. on 06-27-23. This is the same vehicle mentioned below in the Stolen Vehicles section.
   
  • Parking garage on the 1800 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard—a cell phone holder was taken from a 2010 Kia Forte. The rear passenger window was broken. Occurred on 06-27-23 between 2:45 p.m. and 6:36 p.m. This is the same vehicle mentioned below in the Stolen Vehicles section.
 
  • Unit block of Cliffside Drive—construction tools and paperwork were taken from a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. The rear driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred between 11:00 p.m. on 06-27-23 and 6:30 a.m. on 06-28-23. **Online report.
 
  • Unit block of Dalerose Court—cell phone chargers and accessories were taken from a 2009 Ford Econoline. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 06-28-23 at approximately 6:19 a.m. **Online report.
 
  • Fairlawn Avenue and Maddux Drive—power tools were taken from a 2017 Ford Transit. The front driver’s side window was smashed. Occurred between 5:30 p.m. on 06-29-23 and 7:00 a.m. on 06-30-23.
 
  • Unit block of Theta Avenue—power tools and accessories were taken from a 2016 Nissan NV200. The driver’s side window was shattered. Occurred on 06-30-23 at approximately 4:57 a.m.
 
  • Mission Street and Vista Grande Avenue—trashcan, Apple Watch, and charger were taken from a 2003 BMW Z3. Unknown method of entry. Occurred on 07-01-23 between 12:00 p.m. and 6:53 p.m. report.
 
 
Stolen Vehicles  
 
There were twenty-four stolen vehicles and five attempted stolen vehicles during the past three weeks. Sixteen vehicles were recovered.
 
  • Martin Street and Accacia Street—a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche. Occurred on 06-12-23 at approximately 4:38 a.m.
 
  • Schwerin Street and Geneva Avenue—a 2003 Ford Econoline E350. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on 06-13-23 and 10:44 a.m. on 06-17-23.
 
  • 500 block of San Diego Avenue—a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Occurred on 06-15-23 at approximately 5:00 a.m.
 
  • 200 block of Palisades Drive—a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. Occurred between 9:30 p.m. on 06-18-23 and 1:00 a.m. on 06-19-23. **Recovered by CHP-Hayward on 06-22-23.
 
  • 200 block of Lake Merced Boulevard—a 2014 Hyundai Sonata. Occurred on 06-19-23 between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 06-19-23.
 
  • Parking lot on the 1200 block of Hillside Boulevard—a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. Occurred between 5:30 p.m. on 06-21-23 and 4:00 a.m. on 06-22-23. **Recovered by DCPD on 06-22-23.
 
  • 600 block of Clarinada Avenue—a 2017 Dodge Charger. Occurred on 06-22-23 at approximately 2:58 a.m. **Recovered by SFPD on 06-29-23.
 
  • Parking garage on the 1800 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard—a 2017 Hyundai Sonata. Occurred on 06-22-23 between 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 06-23-23.
 
  • 300 block of Cerro Drive—a 2020 Tesla Model Y. Occurred on 06-24-23 at approximately 1:57 a.m. **Recovered by San Bruno PD in Oakland on 06-24-23.
 
  • Unit block of Chester Street—a 2019 Hyundai Elantra. Occurred on 06-24-23 between 2:00 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 06-25-23.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center in front of Macy’s—a 2009 Toyota Camry. Occurred on 06-24-23 at approximately 7:30 p.m. **Recovered by CHP-Redwood City on 06-26-23.
 
  • South Mayfair Avenue and Belmar Avenue—a 1999 Honda CRV. Occurred between 7:30 p.m. on 06-25-23 and 7:00 a.m. on 06-26-23. **Recovered by Burlingame PD on 06-27-23.
 
  • Unit block of Southgate Avenue—a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe. Occurred between 9:30 p.m. on 06-25-23 and 8:00 a.m. on 06-26-23. **Recovered by San Francisco Sheriff’s Department on 06-27-23.
 
  • 100 block of Flournoy Street—a 1999 Jeep Cherokee. Occurred between an unknown time on 06-26-23 and 6:31 p.m. on 06-28-23.
 
  • Unit block of North Mayfair Avenue—a 1982 Toyota Hilux. Occurred between 7:00 p.m. on 06-26-23 and 6:00 p.m. on 06-27-23.
 
  • 900 block of Schwerin Street—a 2001 Chevrolet Astro. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 06-26-23 and 8:00 a.m. on 06-27-23.
 
  • Florence Street and Theirs Street—a 1998 Chevrolet Cheyenne. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 06-26-23 and 1:00 p.m. on 06-27-23. **Recovered by SFPD on 06-29-23.
 
  • 500 block of Verducci Drive—a 2018 Dodge Charger. Occurred on 06-27-23 at approximately 4:10 a.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 06-28-23.
 
  • South Hill Boulevard and Cloister Way—a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Occurred between 11:00 a.m. on 06-27-23 and 10:00 p.m. on 06-29-23.
 
  • East Market Street and Wyandotte Avenue—a 1991 Honda Civic. Occurred on 06-28-23 at approximately 3:24 a.m. **Recovered by SFPD on 06-23-23.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near Macy’s—a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. Occurred on 06-29-23 between 5:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. **Recovered by DCPD on 06-30-23.
 
  • Hillside Boulevard and Brunswick Street—a 2006 Honda Odyssey. Occurred between 8:00 p.m. on 06-30-23 and 4:00 p.m. on 07-01-23.
 
  • 800 block of Campus Drive—a 1999 Chevrolet S10. Occurred on 07-02-23 between an unknown time and 9:30 a.m. **Recovered by SFPD on 07-03-23.
 
  • Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near Crunch Fitness—a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. Occurred on 07-02-23 between 3:30 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. **Recovered by San Bruno PD on 07-03-23.
 
  • Serramonte Boulevard and Callan Boulevard—an attempted theft of a 2018 Ford Escape. The ignition was punched. Occurred on 06-25-23 between midnight and 2:00 p.m. This is the same vehicle mentioned above in the Vehicle Burglaries section.
 
  • 200 block of Oriente Street—an attempted theft of a 2006 GMC Yukon. The steering column and ignition switch were damaged. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on 06-26-23 and 9:40 a.m. on 06-27-23. This is the same vehicle mentioned above in the Vehicle Burglaries section.
 
  • Parking lot of Westlake Shopping Center near Home Depot—an attempted theft of a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. The steering column was broken. Occurred on 06-26-23 between 7:20 p.m. and 7:25 p.m. This is the same vehicle mentioned above in the Vehicle Burglaries section.
 
  • Parking garage on the 1800 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard—an attempted theft of a 2010 Kia Forte. The steering column was damaged. Occurred on 06-27-23 between 2:45 p.m. and 6:36 p.m. This is the same vehicle mentioned above in the Vehicle Burglaries section.
 
  • Unit block of Edgewood Court—an attempted theft of a 2017 Kia Forte. Occurred between 5:00 p.m. on 07-01-23 and 7:00 a.m. on 07-02-23. **Online Report.
 
 
Miscellaneous (3 Weeks)
 
  • There were 445 cases taken.
 
  • There were 40 domestic disturbance cases reported.
 
  • There were 11 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
 
  • There were 38 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
 
  • There were 2 cases for public intoxication.
 
  • There were 10 hit-and-run collisions reported.
 
  • There were 24 narcotics-related cases taken.
