Theatre classes added; CAPs meeting announced; surveys extended

City to offer additional theatre classes for youth 

The City of Hoboken's Cultural Affairs Division and Mile Square Theatre will offer additional theatre classes to residents between 6 and 14 years old.  

Mile Square Theatre Teaching Artists will teach children the basics of acting through energetic theater games and character work as well as creative improvisation and more.   

The four-day course is $50 per student. Space is limited.

Class details are as follows:    Theatre Games 101   Ages: 6 – 9 years old    
Dates: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, from July 31 – Aug. 3   
Time: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.  Where: Mile Square Theatre, Studio B, 1400 Clinton St. In this fast-paced introduction to theater games, we will learn the fundamentals of creative improvisation, beginning with the all-important “yes, and…” From there, we’ll learn how to create scenes using a wide variety of techniques, formats, and games. Class will culminate in a presentation for family and friends.  Theatre Games 101   
Ages: 10 – 14 years old    
Dates: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, from July 31 – Aug. 3
Time: 4:45 – 5:45 p.m.

Hoboken CAPS Forum announced 

The City’s Public Safety Department invites residents to the next CAPS (Community and Public Safety) forum on Tuesday, July 18, starting at 10 a.m. The event will be at Northern Soul, 700 First St.  

Representatives of Hoboken's Police Department, Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, and EMS will be on hand for presentations, conversations and Q&A on safety citywide, focusing on storms and flooding. The City and Public Safety Department host the CAPS Forum every other month in different Hoboken locations as a way for the public to meet and engage with public safety officials and learn more about public safety best practices through a casual setting.   

Light refreshments will be served.  

Hoboken Housing Authority Redevelopment Plan survey extended  

The City today announced the extension of the Hoboken Housing Authority Redevelopment Plan survey.  The online survey will collect community feedback on two preliminary concepts for the HHA Redevelopment Plan which will create new land use and infrastructure requirements to guide future development as the HHA seeks to redevelop, rehabilitate, and add additional units to the decades-old housing stock.

The survey is now scheduled to close on Friday, July 14, at 6 p.m.

Public Art Plan survey extended 

The City extended the online survey to collect community input for the creation of a Public Art Plan. The plan will provider clear guidance for the development, improvement, and enhancement of the City's public art inventory.  

To take the online survey, go to hobokennj.gov/public-art-plan-survey. The survey is now scheduled to close on Friday, July 21, at 6 p.m.
