Suspect Charged with Seven Felony Counts
On June 10, 2023, at approximately 3:25 p.m., Fremont officers responded to a local business to the report of a naked male soliciting customers and employees to participate in sexual acts. The male then sexually battered a customer and ordered the same customer to perform a sexual act on him. The male was identified as Lloyd Gant (47 years old, unhoused resident of Fremont). When officers attempted to take Gant into custody, he did not comply, and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, Gant attempted to remove the holstered firearm from an officer. Gant was ultimately taken into custody with no reported injuries.
Gant was previously convicted of Penal Code 314.1 – Indecent Exposure and is required to register as a sexual offender under Penal Code 290 – Sex Offender Registration Act. On June 13, 2023, the case was presented to Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Gant was subsequently charged with seven felony counts and one misdemeanor count, including Penal Code 287(c)(2)(a) – Attempt Oral Copulation by Force or Duress, Penal Code 314.1 – Indecent Exposure with a Prior, Penal Code 243.4(d) – Sexual Battery, Penal Code 148(d) – Attempt to Remove Firearm from Peace Officer, Penal Code 69 – Resisting an Executive Officer by Threat or Violence, and Penal Code – 243(b) – Battery Upon a Peace Officer. On June 27, 2023, a preliminary hearing occurred in this matter, and Gant was held to answer on each of the listed charges. Gant is currently in custody at Santa Rita Jail.
