El Cerrito Police blotter from June 25th to July 1st

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from June 25th to July 1st.

June 25th


Vehicle Theft – 10944 San Pablo Ave:
At 8:37 AM, an officer reports the theft of a 2020 Kia Forte from the apartment complex parking lot between 9:00 PM on 6/24 and 8:00 AM on 6/25. 
 
Grand Theft – 6800 block of Glen Mawr Ave:
At 9:53 AM, an officer reports the theft of a necklace from the victim’s neck after suspect asked for directions and “thanked” the victim with a hug.  Occurred just prior to the time of call.

Vandalism – 11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s):
At 3:24 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect shattered the rear window of the victim’s vehicle during the previous hour.

Warrant Arrest- 11821 San Pablo Ave (McDonalds):
At 3:25 AM, officers were dispatched to the business for a subject passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in the drive through area. Officers contacted the driver to check on his welfare. During a records check officers discovered the driver had a no bail warrant out of Contra Costa County. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

June 26th

Prowling, stealing mail, resisting arrest – 1400 Block of Liberty Street: 
At 8:32 PM, officers responded to a suspicious person detail. The victim reported she was leaving her house and noticed a suspicious male IFO her residence. The victim drove around the corner and parked down the street from her house. She noticed the male put on a ski mask and walked up to her porch. The male opened the unlocked front gate and checked the locked front door. The male then stole a piece of mail and walked to a neighboring apartment building. An officer checking the area located a subject matching the description of the suspect approximately a block away.
 
The suspect was positively identified during an infield show-up and placed under citizen’s arrest.  While waiting for the victim for the infield show-up the suspect attempted to flee from the officer, but was quickly taken into custody. After booking, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

June 27th

Petty Theft – 1400 block of  Navellier St.
The victims’ front license plate was stolen from their vehicle from June 15th to June 27th.

Attempted Stolen Vehicle – 5300 block of Cypress Ave.
An unknown suspect shattered the rear driver side window of the victims vehicle and damaged the ignition. 
 
June 28th

Petty Theft – 600 block of Kearney St.
On June 25th at 6:48AM a suspect entered the victim’s unlocked truck and stole miscellaneous tools.

Petty Theft – 2700 block of Tulare Ave.
At 8:30AM the victim reports that the suspect stole the victim’s child-alert-safety-sign from in front of the residence. 

Attempted Armed Robbery – Creekside Park
At 9:05AM the victim reports that while they were walking in the park, the suspect stopped her, brandished a knife, demanded the victim give her money and threatened to kill her.  The victim ran away and called the police.
 
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 10628 San Pablo Ave (On Stop Laundromat):
At 4:20PM an El Cerrito Police Officer located an unoccupied parked vehicle that was reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department on June 27th.

Auto Burglary – 400 block of Lexington Ave.
At 4:14PM the victim reported that the rear windows to the victim’s vehicle were shattered and miscellaneous paperwork was stolen.

Assault and Battery – 10070 San Pablo Ave (Rialto Cinemas)
At 4:55PM while the victim was walking along San Pablo Ave., the suspect, unprovoked, pushed the victim and spat towards the victim’s direction.

Domestic Violence / Criminal Threats – 10860 San Pablo Ave.
At 6:27PM, the victim reported her ex-boyfriend came to her residence to pickup his belongings and physically assaulted the victim and threatened to kill her.

Stolen Vehicle / Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24hr Fitness).
At 7:33PM, the victim reported his vehicle stolen from 24hr Fitness while he was inside working out.  At 8:37PM, officers located the same vehicle unoccupied near Eureka Ave / Kearney St.  The vehicle was returned to its owner.

Stolen Vehicle / Recovery Stolen Vehicle – 5900 Block of Jordan Ave.
At 1:36AM, the victim reported her vehicle stolen from her driveway.  At 2:28AM, officers located the stolen vehicle driving through El Cerrito.  The vehicle was followed to Castro Valley and a pursuit ensued.  The pursuit ended in Hayward after crashing into a fence at a golf course.  Three suspects fled from the vehicle, and one was arrested.  The other two eluded capture.  The arrested subject also had a felony warrant for their arrest.  The subject was later transported to county jail in Martinez.
 
June 29th  
 
Stolen Vehicle – 8400 block of Terrace Dr.
At 10:19AM the victim reports that their vehicle was stolen sometime between June 17th to June 29th

Shoplifting – 5805 Cutting Blvd. (Skechers)
At 4:36PM a suspect stole $50.00 worth of merchandise and fled the store.

June 30th

Theft / Battery – 11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s):
At 12:05 PM, an officer reports unidentified suspects left Denny’s without paying.  As the suspects left, they were confronted by a staff member, and one of the suspects pulled her hair in order to get by her.  Last seen northbound in a grey Toyota.

Vehicle Theft – 6600 block of Portola Dr:
At 12:37 PM, an officer reports the theft of a 1987 Subaru hatchback between 10:30 PM on 6/29 and 7:00 AM on 6/30.

Attempt Vehicle Theft-11600 San Pablo Ave: 
At 6:44 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle. The incident occurred in between 6/29 @1800 and 6/30 @ 1809 hours.
 
July 1st

Shoplift – 5805 Cutting Blvd (Skechers):
At 3:10 PM, unidentified suspects stole $323 worth of shoes.
 
Shoplift- 10794 San Pablo Ave (Marshalls): 
At 8:11 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the store and walked to the toddler section. A loss prevention agent noticed the suspect quickly randomly picking up clothing. Moments later the suspect exited the business with the clothing without making any attempts to pay. The Loss Prevention Agent contacted the suspect and asked her to return to the store to pay for the items. The suspect refused and fled the area. 
 
Attempt Stolen Vehicle-6700 Block of Hagen Blvd: 
At 11:15 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle.
 
 
Attempt Stolen Vehicle- 6500 Block of Hagen Blvd: 
While taking the above report, the officer was flagged down about several subjects breaking into a vehicle down the block. Officers responded to the area and discovered an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle.
 
 Auto Burglary-1700 Block of Liberty St: 
At 5:29 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window of the victim’s vehicle to gain entry and stole property.
