Advisory

*Update* Gilroy Police Department Arson Investigation

As a follow up to the advisory message sent on 7/6/23, the Gilroy Police Department has been actively investigating a series of fires which started July 3, 2023.  There have been eight reported incidents since that date which have occurred in various locations throughout the City, to include retail businesses, waterways, and apartment complexes.  The fires at the apartment complexes were set to perimeter fences and a dumpster; no residents were displaced as a result.  A cost estimate for the damage from the fires cannot be determined at this time.

It is believed these fires were caused by different subjects at different time and locations.  It is not known if these subjects were acting in concert with one another.  In addition to the photo attached to yesterday’s advisory, a photo for a second person of interest is attached to this update.

The Gilroy Police Department again urges residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information related to these fires.  If you see these subjects, please contact the Gilroy Police Department at (408) 846-0350.  If it is an emergency, please call 9-1-1.  Anyone with information related to the investigation can contact Detective Catalina Fraide at (408) 846-0335.  Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling the tip line at (408) 846-0330.  For all media inquiries, please call (408) 846-0347.
