Flood Advisory until 06:30AM

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of east central Illinois, including the following counties, Champaign, Douglas, Edgar, Piatt and Vermilion.

* WHEN...Until 630 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 334 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen south of I-72 in Piatt County, extending eastward to near Philo in Champaign County. This heavy rainfall will move across Douglas, Edgar, and southern Vermilion Counties as well. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Champaign, Danville, Tuscola, Urbana, Savoy, St. Joseph, Georgetown, Tolono, Westville, Tilton, Villa Grove, Catlin, Bement, Oakwood, Philo, Cerro Gordo, Chrisman, Sidney, Atwood and Homer.

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
