NWS issues flood watch for Hoboken; avoid flood prone areas
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for much of Northeast New Jersey, including Hudson County and Hoboken starting at 2 p.m. today through 6 a.m. Monday. A slow-moving line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to bring 1 to 2 inches of rain, with localized amounts of 3 to 4 inches possible.
The Office of Emergency Management encourages residents to exercise caution as any intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents are urged to avoid flood-prone areas. The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will deploy barricades at flood-prone intersections. Do not drive around barricades.
Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.
Residents should monitor local forecasts for additional advisories, watches, and warnings. Updates will be posted on the Hoboken OEM twitter page at @HobokenOEM. Residents are also encouraged to monitor the City’s Twitter at @CityOfHoboken and Facebook at facebook.com/hoboken, or sign up to receive email or text updates by visiting www.hobokennj.gov/alerts.
