The APD Homicide Unit has released the names of the deceased in last nights officer involved shooting.

***Update***

The deceased suspect that pointed the gun at Amarillo Police Officers has been identified as Andrew Scott Norton, 32-year-old male. The deceased female has been identified as Isidra Clara Castillo, 38-year-old female. This incident remains under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit. 


***Original Release***

On July 9th at 8:19 PM, an Amarillo Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 3600 block of northeast 9th Avenue. The license plate on the suspect vehicle did not match the vehicle that it was on. There were three occupants in the vehicle during the stop so other officers were called to assist. The driver was removed from the vehicle during the investigation. While speaking with the back seat passenger, he exited the vehicle and pointed a pistol at the officers. The officers fired and struck the suspect. The suspect died at the scene. The front seat passenger was struck by gunfire during the incident and transported to a local hospital. She later died from her injuries. The incident is under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit. This incident is in the early stages of investigation and information is limited. More will be released as it is known.
