Traffic Safety Operation Today
Today, the Berkeley Police Department Traffic Bureau will conduct a traffic safety operation in areas of Berkeley that community members have flagged via the BPD Transparency Hub.
Today's operations are being conducted based on information reported via community surveys to the Traffic Safety page on the BPD Transparency Hub. These surveys appear on the city map as yellow flags requesting traffic enforcement and education in the area. Our department strives to improve traffic safety in our city and thanks the community for utilizing this new tool to inform the police department about problematic locations. Using the Hub is a fast and efficient way for our department to continue to have relevant conversations with the community about improving traffic safety and educating the public on continuous traffic-related concerns.
For those that are interested in learning more about the department's three-prong approach, stop data, and the Vision Zero strategy or to report a traffic safety concern, visit the survey application and directly submit your traffic safety concern to the BPD Traffic Bureau via the BPD Transparency Hub (https://bpd-transparency-initiative-berkeleypd.hub.arcgis.com/pages/traffic-safety).
This operation is being funded by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).
