EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING.

The National Weather Service is reporting an excessive heat watch in effect from Friday morning, July 14th, through Sunday evening. July 16th.

Hot conditions with temperatures in the 90s to near 110
inland with overnight lows in the 60s in the valleys and 70s in the
hills for interior portions of the North, East, and South Bay as 
well as the Santa Cruz mountains and interior Central Coast.
 
Extreme heat will significantly increase the
potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those
working or participating in outdoor activities.
 
The City of Cloverdale wants you to be prepared by following these helpful tips:
Avoid being outdoors during peak hours 
Go to an air-conditioned room (if available)
Avoid strenuous activities
Be on the lookout for heat illness
Wear light clothing
Check on your relatives and neighbors
Drink a lot of water
Be on the lookout for heat cramps, exhaustion, and heat stroke
Never leave children or pets alone in closed vehicles

Tips for surviving excessive heat without air conditioning: 
Open windows and doors at night to cool the house
Close all doors and windows when the sun rises
Close curtains and blinds to cool the indoors
Use box fans or ceiling fans
Avoid upper floors in multi-story homes
Full buckets or basins with water to soak your feet
Use wet towels or bandanas on your shoulders or head
Take cool showers or baths
