LOCATION: The area of Jefferson and Middlefield, Redwood City
DATE/TIME: June 8th 2023
Media Information: On June 8th two juveniles were attacked and robbed of their belongings. The robbery occurred in the area of the Jefferson underpass, near the intersection of Middlefield Road. One of the suspects was armed with a hammer. Both juvenile victims were struck with the hammer, one of them in the eye, causing a serious injury.
The Redwood City Police Department’s Downtown Services Unit (DSU) worked with the Investigations Unit to identify the suspects. A positive identification was made of the primary suspect who had wielded the hammer.
On July 11th the Investigations Division located and arrested the suspect, a 17 year old male who resides in Redwood City. He was booked into juvenile hall for armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, both felonies. A search warrant was served at his residence and evidence was seized related to the crime.
