IMPD Homicide Detectives Make Arrest in Murder/Robbery Investigation
INDIANAPOLIS - On Friday, June 17, 2022, just after 1:30 a.m., IMPD North District officers were dispatched to 2304 Stuart St., on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male, later identified as 41-year-old Ervin Crabtree, inside this location who appeared to have sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported the Mr. Crabtree to an area hospital in critical condition. Shortly after arrival to the hospital unfortunately Mr. Crabtree was pronounced deceased by medical staff. IMPD Homicide detectives arrived at the scene to take over the investigation
Throughout the investigation, detectives identified 20-year-old Jerry Poge as a possible suspect. On July 12,2023, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges on Poge for felony murder and robbery. Poge was in custody for an unrelated incident at the time of charging.

A charge is merely an accusation. The suspect is presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in a court of law. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decisions.
