LOCATION: Onaga Trail/Hopi Trail, Yucca Valley, CA 92284
SUSPECT(S): Cory Michael Barnhart, 32-year-old Male, Resident of Desert Hot Springs
VICTIM(S): 22-year-old Female Resident of Twentynine Palms
20-year-old Female Resident of Twentynine Palms
48-year-old Female Resident of Morongo Valley
13-year-old Male Resident of Morongo Valley
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at approximately 1:33 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies received a call for service regarding an unknown injury traffic collision in the area of Onaga Trail and Hopi Trail in Yucca Valley.
Upon arrival, it was determined a white male adult, later identified as Cory Michael Barnhart, was traveling eastbound on Onaga Trail when he rear-ended two vehicles. Barnhart shouted he did not have a driver's license and fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival.
The driver and passenger in the first vehicle complained of pain and had bruising on their legs. The occupants of the second vehicle also complained of pain. Upon investigation, it was determined Barnhart was the suspect of the hit and run and was positvielty identified as the driver who fled the scene. Barnhart was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for CVC 20001(a) - Hit and Run with Injuries.
Barnhart's bail amount was set at $30,000.
