Temple City Activates Cooling Center at Live Oak Park

With temperatures expected to exceed 95°F this week, the City of Temple City has activated its cooling center, located at Live Oak Park Community Center, to provide residents with relief from the heat.

Residents may visit the cooling center for a relaxing, air-conditioned space through Sunday, July 16, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Call the Community Center at (626) 579-0461 for updated information.  For additional information, please visit www.templecity.us.

The City’s Dial-A-Ride service offers low-cost transportation to and from the center to seniors and mobility-impaired residents that are cardholding members. Cost per trip is 50 cents. For reservations, call (626) 286-2456.

The City is also encouraging residents to check on pets, neighbors and family members—seniors in particular—who may be especially sensitive to extreme heat. Residents should also take precautions to stay healthy during the summer months by drinking plenty of water, limiting activities to cooler times of the day, wearing lightweight and comfortable clothing, and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun
