Highland Park’s annual Parkstock outdoor summer concert series returns to Donaldson Park

Highland Park’s latest addition to free live music offerings in our area, which debuted to sizeable crowds in 2022, is returning for its second annual set of shows in Donaldson Park this summer.

The Borough’s Parkstock 2023 concert series invites residents and visitors to four free concerts to be held on Thursdays from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, in the gazebo in Grove 1 in the park, with ample parking available nearby.  Food vendors will be available on site with refreshments for purchase.

On Thursday July 20th Parkstock welcomes Hair Magic and Cold Weather Company to the stage. Highland Park's Hair Magic is a pop/punk band featuring Jennifer Rector (guitar, vocals), Christine Espiritu (bass, vocals) and Christie Lutz (drums). Formed in 2017 they take their name from a Highland Park business behind which Jen and Christie rented apartments many moons ago. They recently released their second EP, "Not Friends," which was recorded and mixed by Pete Steinkopf (Bouncing Souls) in Asbury Park and mastered by Highland Park's own Tommy Strazza. "Not Friends" and other Hair Magic recordings are available at https://hairmagic.bandcamp.com

Cold Weather Company is an alternative folk band from New Brunswick, New Jersey. Garnering over ten million digital streams, the band combines elements from three different songwriting perspectives to form something unique and accessible to all ages. Four albums and over 65 songs later, the group has supported The Bouchard Bros of Blue Öyster Cult on a UK tour, as well as Tall Heights, Jamestown Revival, and others within the US. The rain date for this show is Thursday August 31st.

The other Parkstock 2023 concerts are scheduled for July 27th, August 3rd, and August 10th.

Parkstock 2023 is a project of the Borough of Highland Park, NJ. This project is supported in part by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
