Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of July 3-9, 2023
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were two robberies during the past week.
On Wednesday, 07-05-23, at approximately 9:59 a.m., officers were dispatched to Dollar Tree on the 6200 block of Mission Street on a report of a strong-arm robbery. An employee stated that a suspect entered the store and placed merchandise in a basket. She tried to prevent the suspect from leaving; however, the suspect pushed her out of the way and left the store with merchandise valued at approximately $9. The suspect was located by officers at Walgreens. Subsequently, the Dollar Tree employee identified the suspect. The suspect, a 52-year-old transient, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.
On Friday, 07-07-23, at approximately 5:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to Macy’s on a report of a detained shoplifter. Two suspects entered Macy’s. The first suspect selected a gray blazer and concealed it in the second suspect’s backpack. Both suspects went to a different area of the store and began selecting random items. The first suspect selected a water bottle worth approximately $35 and walked away. The second suspect selected a water bottle and a jean jacket, which he also placed into his backpack. Both suspects exited the store without paying. Loss prevention employees were able to detain both suspects; however, they sustained scratches. The second employee had stolen approximately $515 worth of merchandise. The first suspect, a 21-year-old Oakland resident, and the second suspect, a 25-year-old San Francisco resident, were arrested and booked into jail for robbery.
Residential Burglaries
There were no residential burglaries during the past week.
Commercial Burglaries
There was one commercial burglary during the past week.
On Friday, 07-07-23, at approximately 3:48 a.m., Greek Imports, located on the 6500 block of Mission Street, was the victim of a commercial burglary. A suspect broke the glass door and entered the business. The suspect stole a cash box from the cash register containing $1,200 and fled southbound on Mission Street. The suspect was described as possibly a Hispanic or Filipino male with dark facial hair, carrying a large blue bag, and wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap, black pants, and black shoes.
Vehicle Burglaries
There were seven vehicle burglaries during the past week.
- Parking garage on the unit block of Hillside Boulevard—medications were taken from a 2020 Subaru Forester. The rear passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 07-03-23 between 1:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
- 100 block of Lausanne Avenue—a wallet was taken from a 2018 Lexus RX450H. A passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 07-03-23 at approximately 7:20 a.m. **Online report.
- Parking garage on the unit block of Hillside Boulevard—nothing was taken from a 2012 Honda Civic. The rear passenger window was broken. Occurred between 8:00 a.m. on 07-03-23 and 3:00 p.m. on 07-04-23.
- Jacqueline Court and Linda Vista Drive—registration and insurance paperwork were taken from a 2008 Honda CRV. The front passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 07-03-23 and 6:00 p.m. on 07-04-23.
- Parking garage on the unit block of Hillside Boulevard—nothing was taken from a 2004 Honda Odyssey. A passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 07-03-23 and 3:00 p.m. on 07-04-23.
- Parking garage on the unit block of Hillside Boulevard—two Dre Beats headphones, three unknown brand headphones, and a Nintendo Switch were taken from a 2018 Dodge Durango. The rear passenger side window was smashed. Occurred between 10:30 p.m. on 07-03-23 and 3:00 p.m. on 07-04-23.
- 1100 block of Brittany Lane—front license plate, registration and insurance paperwork, and a medical bag containing an oxygen tank and other miscellaneous medical supplies were taken from a 2007 Ford Mustang. A passenger side window was smashed. Occurred between 10:00 p.m. on 07-05-23 and 9:55 a.m. on 07-06-23.
Stolen Vehicles
There were five stolen vehicles and one attempted stolen vehicle during the past week. One vehicle was recovered.
- Franciscan Drive and Harbor Lane—a 2001 Nissan Frontier. Occurred on 07-03-23 between 3:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. **Recovered by SFPD on 07-04-23.
- Orange Street and East Market Street—a 2000 Ford F250. Occurred between 1:00 p.m. on 07-04-23 and 7:20 a.m. on 07-05-23.
- 600 block of Sylvan Street—a 2006 Cixi Zongshen dirt bike. Occurred between 11:30 p.m. on 07-04-23 and 6:30 a.m. on 07-05-23.
- 500 block of South Hill Boulevard—a 2018 Hyundai Accent. Occurred between 9:00 p.m. on 07-05-23 and 8:35 a.m. on 07-06-23.
- Parking lot of Serramonte Shopping Center near Old Navy—a 2017 Infiniti Q50. Occurred on 07-08-23 at approximately 8:47 p.m.
- Acton Street and Brunswick Street—an attempted theft of a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The passenger side window was smashed, and the steering column was damaged. Occurred between 6:00 p.m. on 07-05-23 and 6:15 a.m. on 07-06-23.
Miscellaneous
- There were 136 cases taken.
- There were 11 domestic disturbance cases reported.
- There were 5 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
- There were 12 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
- There was 1 case for public intoxication.
- There were 2 hit-and-run collisions reported.
- There was 1 narcotics-related case taken.
