El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from July 2nd - July 8th
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from July 2nd to July 8th.
July 2nd
Grand Theft – 1500 block of Lexington Ave:
At 6:59 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect stole two e-bikes from a bike rack affixed to the victim’s vehicle sometime between 8:00 PM on 7/1 and 6:00 AM on 7/2.
Vehicle Burglary – 1300 block of Liberty St:
At 7:22 AM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect shattered windows of the camper shell on the victim’s Toyota Tacoma and stole property from within.
Card Skimmer – 7022 Stockton Ave (7-Eleven):
At 2:01 AM, an officer reports a skimming device was located in the ATM in the 7-Eleven by a repair tech who was servicing the machine.
Auto Burglary- 500 Block of Balra Dr:
At 4:29 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed the driver’s side window of victim’s vehicle and stole tools.
July 3rd
Tamper with Vehicle -11700 Block of San Pablo:
At 10:49 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the window of the victim’s vehicle.
July 4th
Warrant Arrest- 10900 San Pablo Ave:
At 9:58 PM, a subject flagged down officers at the police station advising she was suffering from a medical issue. Officers summoned an ambulance for the subject. Upon the arrival of the ambulance, the subject declined to be transported to a local hospital and walked away. The subject later returned to the station and officers discovered they had an outstanding warrant. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Stolen Vehicle- 600 Block of Liberty St:
At 4:47 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle. The theft occurred in between 7/3 @12:00 PM and 7/4 @9:30 PM.
July 5th
Vandalism- 1700 Block of Arlington Blvd:
At 10:01 PM, an officer reports the victim heard a loud noise coming from the front of her residence. The victim went outside to investigate and noticed two subjects running from her vehicle. The victim went to examine her vehicle and noticed a rear window had been smashed out.
Stolen Vehicle Recovery- 7900 Block of Cutting Blvd:
At 10:05 PM, an officer located a suspicious vehicle. During the investigation they discovered the vehicle was an unreported stolen vehicle from Richmond. The officer processed the vehicle for evidence and released the vehicle to the owner at the scene.
Stolen Vehicle- 900 Block of Lexington Ave:
At 1:00 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s vehicle. The theft occurred in between 11:00 PM and midnight.
July 6th
Residential Burglary- 5800 Block of Alta Punta Ave:
At 6:54 PM, officers responded to a residential burglary that had just occurred. During the investigation, officers discovered the suspect was a neighbor of the victim. Officers located the neighbor and took him into custody. After booking, the suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
July 7th
Vehicle Theft – 700 block of Elm St:
At 7:13 AM, an officer reports the theft of a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup sometime overnight. The victim tracked the vehicle to San Pablo via GPS and San Pablo PD recovered it a short time later.
Battery – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 9:41 AM, an officer reports an unidentified female suspect hit the security guard and tried to take her phone. The security guard was trying to take the suspect’s picture because she suspected a theft was in progress.
Burglary (Residential) – 300 block of Behrens St:
At 2:22 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect entered the victim’s garage and stole items sometime over the previous three days.
Shoplift/False Fire Alarm 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 10:44 PM, officers were dispatched to Walgreens for a subject taking merchandise off of the shelves and refusing to leave. When employees locked the doors due to the store closing, the subject then pulled the fire alarm. Officers arrived on scene and detained the subject. The subject was placed under Citizen’s Arrest by employees. The subject was transported to the ECPD for booking and issued a citation.
Warrant Arrest/Drunk in Public- Central Ave/ Carlson Blvd:
At 11:02 PM, officers responded to a disturbance. During the investigation officers conducted a records check and discovered one of the involved parties had an outstanding warrant out of San Francisco County. The second subject was found to be intoxicated in public and placed under arrest. The subject with the warrant was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. The intoxicated subject was transported to a local hospital for an unrelated medical issue.
July 8th
Trespass/Battery on an Officer -11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s):
At 2:42 PM, an officer responded to the business for two unwanted subjects. After the first subject left, the second subject refused to leave and began breaking dishes. As officers were taking the subject into custody, she kicked an officer. The subject was transported directly to the Martinez Detention Facility.
