Flood watch issued for Hoboken
The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Hudson County and Hoboken starting at midnight through tomorrow night. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across the area toward daybreak Sunday with rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches, with localized amounts of 3 to 5 inches possible at times. These totals may result in flash flooding of urban and low-lying areas.
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) encourages residents to exercise caution as any intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents are urged to avoid flood-prone areas. The OEM will deploy barricades at flood-prone intersections. Do not drive around barricades.
Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.
Residents should monitor local forecasts for additional advisories, watches, and warnings. Updates will be posted on the Hoboken OEM twitter page at @HobokenOEM. Residents are also encouraged to monitor the City’s Twitter at @CityOfHoboken and Facebook at facebook.com/hoboken, or sign up to receive email or text updates by visiting www.hobokennj.gov/alerts.
