Current weather situation

The West Amwell Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is continuing to monitor the weather situation. We were on a conference call with Hunterdon County OEM this morning, with over 70 participants. As of now, there is no danger of Delaware River flooding, but small streams remain a concern.

Here is the latest from the National Weather Service:

Here is the 1030 Sunday update from the NWS in Mount Holly regarding the ongoing weather event:
The threat for flash flooding has increased, particularly across the southern and eastern portions of the area where the moderate and slight risks for excessive rainfall have been expanded. The Flood Watch has also been expanded to include the entire region as a result.
Showers and thunderstorms containing especially heavy rainfall will increase in coverage again this afternoon across much of our region. The greatest concern once again are impacts from flash flooding. There will also be a 'Marginal' Risk of severe thunderstorms.
*Hazardous Weather: Heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding; localized severe thunderstorms with damaging winds. There is a low risk for tornadoes.
*Locations affected: The entire region. However, the greatest threat for flash flooding will be from northwestern New Jersey south into the I-95 urban corridor and east across southern New Jersey (see the Moderate Risk area in the attached graphics).
*Timing: Through this evening. The bulk of the thunderstorms may come in a second round this afternoon and evening, but specific timing at any one location remains uncertain.
*Impacts: Excessive rainfall rates could result in flash flooding, especially in urban and poor drainage areas. Any isolated severe storms could produce damaging wind gusts or a weak tornado, bringing down trees and causing power outages
*Confidence on occurrence: High confidence that numerous thunderstorms will produce heavy rainfall and flooding. Low confidence on exactly where and when those impacts will occur.
More information will be posted as needed.
