INCIDENT: CVC 2800.2(A) - Felony Evading and CVC 10851(A) - Vehicle Theft
LOCATION: W. Broadway Street and Palm Way, Needles
SUSPECT(S): Bradley Kots, 26-Years-Old, Resident of Sutherland, IA
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Saturday, July 15, 2023, at about 10:20 a.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department spotted a stolen Chrysler 300 sedan driving west on W. Broadway Street in Needles. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, however the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. The suspect drove recklessly through residential streets throughout the city of Needles. The suspect drove north on Needles Highway in the opposite lane of travel, forcing other motorists off the road.
The vehicle became disabled and was abandoned by the suspect, who fled into the desert and hid in dense vegetation. Deputies requested the assistance of Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) for air support. Arizona DPS’ helicopter arrived on scene and located the suspect. The suspect surrendered to deputies and was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Bradley Kots of Iowa. Kots was transported to the High Desert Detention Center for booking and is being held on $100,000.00 bail, pending a court hearing.
