DETAILS: In response to the recent surge in gang-related violence, the Amarillo Police Department's Gang Intelligence Unit (APD GIU) and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division (Texas DPS CID) along with Texas Department of Public Safety Special Agents and Troopers have formed a vital partnership to address the rise in violent crime linked to gang activities. This collaborative effort aims to ensure the safety and security of the Amarillo community.
 
Over the past week, APD GIU and Texas DPS CID have combined their expertise, resources, and intelligence to launch a coordinated response against criminal organizations involved in gang-related violence. By pooling their strengths, both agencies will enhance information sharing, intelligence gathering, and investigative strategies, leading to more effective measures to disrupt gang operations.
 
This partnership between APD GIU and Texas DPS CID reflects our unwavering commitment to tackling gang-related violence head-on. We are dedicated to protecting our community from the impact of these criminal activities. Together, we will make significant strides in dismantling criminal networks and ensuring a safer environment for all residents.

Total Arrests: 12
TxGang Entries: 20
Stolen Property Recovered: $65,000.00
Stolen Vehicles Recovered: 1
Stolen Weapons Recovered: 2
Total Handguns Seized: 9
Total Traffic Stops: 19
Total Marijuana Seized: 336.8 g
Total Cocaine Seized: 0.3 g
Total Felony Arrest Warrants: 6
Total Misdemeanor Arrest Warrants: 3
 
This remarkable progress demonstrates the effectiveness of the collaborative approach, as well as the dedication and skill of the law enforcement personnel involved.
