Full Notification

On 7/19/2023, at about 1812 hours, Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Kern Valley Substation and East Area Substations were dispatched to the 42000 block of Heritage Way, in Walker Basin for a report of a juvenile with a traumatic injury. Responding deputies and Kern County Fire Department located the juvenile in a vehicle on Caliente Bodfish Road. The juvenile was being transported by family members to Bakersfield to receive medical attention.  

KCSO Deputies, KCFD and HALL Ambulance personnel attempted life saving medical aid, but the juvenile was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kern County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives were called to the scene to investigate the death. Kern County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives were also called out to the residence for a large marijuana grow. The investigation is ongoing.
