Advisory
The Chip Seal application will consist of the placement of emulsified asphalt and a layer of 1/4 inch stone on the roadway. This will provide a waterproof membrane to repel moisture from entering the sub-grade and adds elasticity to prevent reflective cracking from showing through the new surface. Access to properties will be maintained during construction. However, residents should drive slowly over the oil and chip surface because there will be loose stone. Residents, pets and bicycles are not recommended to use roadways while the oil is wet because asphalt is difficult to remove from clothing, rugs, etc. All vehicles/trailers/boats must be removed from roadways between the hours of 7am to 6pm. We also ask that you notify any contractors/landscapers/delivery drivers that there will be closings and delays.
Byram Township thanks the residents for their patience during this project. Township police and employees will be in the area to help direct traffic and ensure safe passage. If you have questions regarding this project, or have special needs, please contact Department of Public Works Superintendent Michael Orgera at 973-347-2500 x137 or via email at [email protected].
