Robberies

There was one robbery and one attempted robbery during the past week.

On Tuesday, 07-11-23, at approximately 9:00 p.m., on the 6200 block of Mission Street, a victim was walking home and said a suspect pulled out a knife, pointed it toward her, and said, “Give me.” The suspect cut the victim’s canvas tote bag handles and pulled on the bag. The victim was able to hold onto her tote bag and yelled for help. The victim asked a male subject standing a few feet away for help but realized he was with the suspect. One of the two suspects then grabbed a paper bag containing $150 worth of clothing and slippers off the victim’s left shoulder and ran away. The victim described the suspect with the knife as a medium-complected Hispanic male in his early twenties, clean-shaven, 5’4” tall, thin build, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and gray jogger-style sweats. The other suspect was described as a medium-complected Hispanic male in his early twenties, clean-shaven, 5’7” tall, thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt under a black puffy jacket and black pants. This investigation is continuing.

On Wednesday, 07-12-23, at approximately 10:10 p.m., an officer was on regular patrol driving through the Westlake Shopping Center when a security guard caught his attention. The security guard advised the officer that a suspect brandished a knife at an employee at Panda Express. An employee stated that while he was standing at the cash register, a suspect approached him and said, “Hey, I have something to tell you. Open the register; I’m not playing with you.” The suspect brandished a knife and then placed it back in a white plastic bag. The employee did not open the register but grabbed the keys and walked away. The employee said the suspect smelled like alcohol, was drunk, and left soon after. Another employee said a suspect also contacted her at the register around 10:00 p.m., told her to open the cash register, and said he had a knife. This employee responded that she was looking for her key. The suspect replied, “Open the register and give me the money.” This employee stated the suspect took his hand out of the white plastic bag and was not holding a knife. The suspect left a short time later. On 07-16-23, through investigation, the suspect, a 65-year-old Daly City resident, was arrested and booked into jail for attempted robbery.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
